Both My Grammys are Dead

So… cartoons were good tonight, Bob sold out his family… Stan caught a case of the sleepwalker… I was able to make a beer run while Family Guy was flogging a dead horse. All in all, it seems the night is going pretty well. We flipped through the channels and found a postmortem Paul McCartney wave his mullet all over the TV with… I dunno, drumsyncing (?) over dubbed drumming by the original big nosed idiot Ringo Starr. Yeah… here goes the Grammys… fueled by Schlitz.

Then Metallica (however the fuck that’s spelled) ruined one of their own songs… which should only be a task reserved for poor covers played on super market radio stations. …and just when we thought it should be over… ol’ big lips from Aerosmith tried to sing a Smokey Robinson song, and I wanted to kill myself, but before that could happen Daft Punk won a Grammy… for some stupid fucking reason.

Here’s a picture of me throwing 40oz. bottles at the TV:

seriously, Green Day has a touring broadway show …this post is so fucking dead to me.

Albert Ross Returns!

This was a style of quickness that I learned from Red Meat. I always wanted to apply it to Albatross (sp?), but never really got around to it until today. The slab serif font could use a little thickness, because it gets really hard to read at this size (just click it to see the full view.)

If you’ve never listened to King Diamond, you probably won’t get this… and if you’ve never listened to Them, you definitely won’t. It doesn’t matter though, usually these types of comics don’t make sense.

Makin’ Bacon

So… more random practice on a new drawing technique(?)/style prepping me for longer runs of consistency at an acceptable pace. This one is a play on the Cooking Show video series I thought up a couple of years back, but never fully got around to finishing anything more than the theme song… maybe one day I’ll record that one for you. Anyway, without further ado, I give you… Makin’ Bacon:

Hull Rd. on Repeat

Last night I had this dream that I’m sure had a lot of homesickness built into it… I drew a picture about it, but it only touches on certain parts and is basically just to remind me about the whole…

In case anyone is wondering what BLC Ypsi-Hardcore sounds like, here’s an example of that:

…sorry I haven’t posted in a couple days. I’m slackin’ on my resolution, but trust me… I’ve been working on lots of stuff.  Mainly What is Lonely, I took a break from Thirty-Three & the Nuns of Yore… more to come soon…

Anti-Professionalism at its Best

So, here’s what’s up… a.k.a – busting the nutshell wide open:

I’m trying to possibly take on a new client (yes, in addition to all the other stuff I’m always doing.) Hungry people can’t turn down paying gigs. This is the part where I professionally tell the reader that I will explain more about it as the job progresses, but then don’t ever mention it again because I bomb the interview with my awkward social behavior. Either way… I’m updating my website for the first time since it’s major hack/crash that took place sometime after my fonts started to gain popularity. Thanks to all the people who liked & downloaded my fonts… and double thanks to all the random people who send me money & emails every once in a while telling me how much they love what I do.

– – – AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT – – –

So, today was a killer of a work day. I’m an exhausted fish. I promised everyone a metal album after 2 days off, but then took on more that I could promise… as a compromise, I released my self-titled Kids That Play Dead album of 2013 demos for Thirty-Three. So, in all fairness… I should totally post the 4 pieces of songs that I was working on for the Nuns of Yore album. Mark my words, I will write words, finish this album… and it will be both offensive and hilarious to some. Probably offensive to most, but without further ado…

Coats & Corpses

As some of you may or may not know… I’ve maintained a “record label” website and tried to consistently work on random musical projects. So, I had a project over the past couple days where I was working on called The Nuns of Yore. While working on that, I decided that it was also time to go back and redo the way I have the current Coats & Corpses website to have some more up to date releases… like the Pucker Up… EXPLODE! albums I’ve been releasing.

All this being said… I haven’t really posted anything online that I’ve been working on since the last PUE album (other than the 2 New Years songs) So, today I submit to you… a demo compilation that I made for myself in December to keep my head in the game. See what I like and what I’d like to change… either way, this is the first taste of Thirty-Three. The following 9 tracks are not complete… a lot of them just sort of end, some of them may never make it past this “release”, others may go onto other projects (track 8 is being used in The Nuns of Yore) …and this is actually the second demo I’ve put together for Thirty-Three… maybe one day I’ll post the first one if anyone else is into my musical evolution. Probably not though…

  2. Whichest Rights?

The Nuns of Yore… Update

So… seeing as how it’s almost 2 o’clock on day one of the Nuns of Yore metal project… it seems fitting to give a bit of an update. My original plan was to do 2 tracks… but after conversing with some friends at work about it, and as the project began to progress, I realised that my theme may warrant a couple more tracks. As of now, I have the intro track, Straight Outta Convents, finished and ready for mixing. The second song (currently titled Psalm 187) is also progressing rather well, but as for heavy metal soloing… yeah, I’m pretty terrible. So, I’m going to have to do some “know your weakness” type of rearranging so that the track still works. Vocals are still scat (or scratch tracks as we always liked to call it).

Which brings us to track 3, Rule of the Spear, the most complete of the new songs. It’s actually about a true event… still being argued in court, where a priest allegedly killed a nun 23 years ago. The title comes from the first name of the priest, Gerald, which originates in the German language… meaning rule of the spear. That being said, I think it’s a good time to mention the theme of the album. I’m using priests and nuns as rival gangs… imagine that craziness. Drive by’s on churches performed by holy figures… people are people, you never know when crazy can erupt.

For track 4 I’m thinking of bringing in the classic Flowers for the Woman Who Got Hit On… By a Vehicle… seeing as how it never fit on a PUE, or KTPD album. I think I may rename it though… not sure… I really like that title. Oh, and yes, it will remain instrumental. It might, however, contain different samples and become longer. Then there is track 5… as of yet is untitled. It’s got a great soaring riff though.

I also redesigned the logo… check-ch-check-check check-ch-check it out…

Working, Working… Working.

Ok, so… here’s a list of randomness that I’ve been working on, old school posting, BOOM! So here’s what’s up…

A Graphic Novel about Lonliness
I’m working on this with my friend Hans, I’m super into the story, but I’m not sure if I have the skills to make it look the way it should… anyway, we’ll see how it goes… I totally plan on making this happen. It’ll be super cool just to have done it in the end. I know it will be amazing no matter how I feel about my work in it. I am my worst critic by the way… here’s a super early sample:

The Nuns of Yore
I really wanted to do a Black Metal music project… just as a break from punk rock. I don’t really listen to much metal… I mean, I love Cradle of Filth, Slayer, Lamb of God, and a bunch of other metal bands that don’t have the same notoriety… I just don’t think that I have the gusto to write a non punk album (it’s really just a 2 song EP) that holds true to the metal that I love. By the way, I’m giving myself a 2 day window to research, write and record the whole thing. Let’s see what Thursday night looks like.

Harley Dealership Ads
Yep… that’s all I’m gonna say, I love making them… I don’t want to fuck with any copyrights though.

Reading
What the fuck?!?! …yeah… I’m going to start reading again, or at least just looking at the images in graphic novels and how they are illustrated. Bam! Wrapped it around to the first part of the post… ok, anyway… back to creating some new forms for my admin shift tomorrow. Later crocodiles…

Meanwhile… in Wood Shop

So… I thought of this a while ago, and finally got around to actually doing a demo sketch. It’s a start at a one frame comic, but I’m not sure if it totally grasps the full humor of the situation yet. Hopefully I’ll get around to doing a few more sketches sometime soon. Anyway, here it is…

I could definitely redraw the whole right side of this… but that’ll be for later.
